Product Overview
Mica band heaters wind resistance wire on a mica frame, sandwich it between mica sheets, and clad it in stainless steel or galvanized plate—only 3–5 mm thick. The thin profile gives faster thermal response and easier fit on small-diameter barrels and pipes.
Mica temperature limit is around 350°C; beyond that it delaminates and insulation drops, so these heaters are not for high-temperature engineering plastics. They are fully adequate for PE, PP, ABS, and similar common resins, and cost less than ceramic types.
Bands come as split, two-piece, or seamless; split is easiest to install. ID tolerance is held within −0.5 mm to ensure barrel contact—too large a gap raises the heater own temperature and causes early failure. Leads can be fitted with stainless braided sleeves against field abrasion.
