Product Overview

Cartridge heaters place a spirally wound resistance wire inside a stainless-steel or Incoloy tube, compacted with high-purity MgO and sealed at the ends by epoxy or welding. Minimum OD is 3 mm; length is custom to hole depth; power density runs 10–30 W/cm², the standard for high-density localized heating.

When inserted into molds or hot runners, use holes with H7 tolerance and Ra0.8 finish, keeping the clearance at 0.05–0.1 mm. Too large raises thermal resistance and element temperature; too tight makes removal difficult. A layer of thermal grease before installation markedly improves transfer and life.

Lead styles include lead-wire, terminal-stud, and plug-in; high-temperature sites use fiberglass or ceramic sleeves. Hot-runner use typically pairs a K-type thermocouple with a PID controller, with the sensing point near the cavity for ±1°C accuracy.
